The word Quintessence has a Medieval Latin origin, “Quinta Essentia”, or fifth essence. The first definition of Quintessence that the Merriam-Webster Dictionary provides us is “the fifth and highest element in ancient and medieval philosophy that permeates all nature and is the substance composing the celestial bodies”. The ancient Greeks believed that all material matter was comprised of a mixture of four elements – Earth, Air, Fire and Water. However, there was also belief in an additional, more subtle, fifth element.
Bringing ancient theories into modern times, this fifth element can be viewed as the same energy which moves within and around all things – an etheric and vital life force energy that ties everything together. The fifth element is also the very energy that an Energy Healing Practitioner is channeling when doing their work!
The Fifth Element in Sacred Geometry
The fifth element is symbolically represented by a special geometric shape called a Dodecahedron, one of Plato’s five Platonic Solids. These five special shapes represent the elements: Earth is represented by the cube, Air by the octahedron, Fire by the tetrahedron, Water by the icosahedron, and back again to the Fifth Element, represented by the dodecahedron. A dodecahedron can be clearly seen in the Fifth Element Healing LLC logo; it is the geometric shape which surrounds the center heart.
